Blogger has removed the URL field for unauthenticated comments. Instead, we're rolling out support for OpenID, a technology for "signing" your comments with your own URL. OpenID lets you comment with the URL you want, while preventing others from impersonating you. Blog admins can turn on OpenID now on Blogger in Draft. Learn more.So, Blogger removed the URL field but didn't replace it with anything else. The Blog Owner (that's me, in case you are wondering), has to figure out there is a problem, find out that she has to turn something on in someplace she has never heard of (what is Blogger in Draft anyway? And why to I have to implement a "draft" of something? In my little corner of the world, that means UNFINISHED!) And then what is turned on? OpenID. I don't even know, I don't know how you sign in using it, I don't know how it works, and I can't test it since I don't have another account to use. Stupid Blogger.
I don't like having to think about my blog this much, it's supposed to be fun, not work. For you and for me.

Don't be upset. That move will stop many a malicious link from being on my blog comments as posters. Perhaps yours too. I remove them.
I HATE WORD VERIFICATION so I allow anybody and anyone to comment, get their kicks, then I remove the comment.
And a lot of fun ones too, including some of my family, have put various Web sites as their signature URL falsely. Those I allowed to stay. But no more will they be there.

I've moved to WordPress because of this blunder. It wasn't easy. I'm trying to figure out how I can sue Google for my pain and suffering.
My issue isn't that they made this change, but that Blogger didn't announce it (like, how about on the Dashboard?) and didn't give blog owners a choice. Nor did they make it easy to make the change. This *hasn't* been a problem for me, word verification stopped my spam problems. I'm a tiny little blog without very many readers, that's totally fine with me, but I don't want to drive off the ones I do have.
I've actually considered doing what Kathy did. I just don't have the time right now to explore the options.
